Misaki looking at Usami
The
first thing we can say about what he thinks of Usami is that he is in total
denial, and that shows at every chapter where they appear, it always finishes
with Misaki falling back in the denial, even if he admits at some point his
love for him.
Misaki at first doesn’t like Usami at all, actually he goes to the tutoring
lessons, just to make his brother happy and be able to enter M university, and
the feeling is mutual, but then during the months they study together, he begins
to care and we notice the main change when he gets angry with his own brother
for his insensitivity of wanting to introduce his future wife to Usami firstly.
So much that he cries for his broken heart:
“I’m… I’m sorry. I mean how could he be so cruel? After you liked him for so long! After you cared about him for so long! He wanted you to be the first to meet her? How could he be so thoughtless?! This is the first time in my life I ever felt like punching him!”

And the fact that he says, he felt like punching his precious brother, tells
a lot about how much he cares about Usami. Even if he will deny it to the end,
he is a person who can’t accept the reality of his feelings, so he even
if he thinks he is substitute for his brother and that Usami still loves Takahiro
and not him, he will deny that he loves Akihiko. Leading to misunderstandings.
